I have been several times in Belém and around in the delta of the Amazon & Tocantins rivers, went to carimbó little festivals in the middle of Marajó Island, taking analog photos of these afro-delta traditions, between 2000-2010 ... this release is huge, I pay homage to Samy Ben Redjeb for suceeding such a project! I hope one day Analog goes for French Guyana, Martinique & Guadeloupe vintage sounds. These CARIMBÓ-SIRIA & candomblé songs are FANTASTIC !

What a wonderful surprise it was to hear the Cuban song "El Carretero" on an album of Senegalese music! I'm familiar with the song from a modern hiphop-ified version on Putumayo's "Latin Groove" CD but this older, more traditional recording is pretty special in its own right. There are so many other great songs here, too.
